My sister, Mary, friend Debbie and I drove to Clayton, NY today to attend a lecture by Pat Knoechel, a renowned author, teacher and expert quilter and the sister of Eleanor Burns of the Quilt in a Day books. Pat spoke about different techniques and designs of quilting and displayed a vast array of quilts. One of her topics featured the techniques involved in making the blocks featured in Eleanor's new Day & Night Quilt in a Day book. How impressive! We were able to have our books and patterns signed by Pat. Pat travels extensively and is a wonderful speaker. If you have the chance to see her, don't pass it up.

One Month Away!
Our show opens one month from today!
Thanks to all who have signed up to volunteer for the various show duties. Chloe Ann and I touched base today and will be doing so every day from now on. We want to make sure all the bases are covered.
I spoke with a couple members who are putting the finishing touches on their entries. One member is dropping a king-sized quilt off tomorrow for quilting. She spoke of the binding job to come - it's a good thing she loves hand work.

$1000.00 - for Office For The Aging
Our raffle to benefit the SLC Office For The Aging raised $1000.
Great News!
Twenty-two (22) Challenge Quilts were shown at our guild meeting. Each told a story...... our members used their skills to create "Pieces of Their Hearts". All those present enjoyed hearing the inspiration behind the entries. We're hoping more Challenge Quilts will be finished by show time.

Our guild made a quilt to benefit the St. Lawrence County Office of the Aging. The pattern is Aunt Betty's Attic. Members are busy selling tickets. We had decided to draw the winning ticket on Mother's Day, but since our group meeting will be right before Mother's Day, we'll draw the ticket then. What a great gift!!

Quilt Show Committee Meeting
We had a quilt show committee meeting this morning at Clarkson University's Cheel Center where our show will be held. The meeting was well attended.
Our members are busy completing show entries.
We're starting to receive registration forms. Lots of favors have already been made. Great posters were designed by member, Renee Holsen, and are available for distribution. I'm encouraged at the progress being made. Many hands make for a lighter load.
Our group business meeting will be held May 6. We'll schedule work times for members then. Jobs will include registration, hanging of quilts, staging of area, greeters, security, help with boutique, raffle ticket sale table, etc.
